Pancreatitis due to the total displacement of intragastric balloon to duodenu

Intragastric balloon (IGB) application in obesity treatment is an easily applied non-surgical method which has an effective weight loss potential. However, with increasing use in recent years, life-threatening complications have been reported in the literature. In addition to gastric perforation and intestinal obstruction due to serious complications, it has recently started to take its place in the literature. Thirteen cases of pancreatatitis due to IGB administration have been reported so far.In this study, a patient with morbid obese patient, acute abdominal pain and vomiting, who had intragastric balloon application five months ago, was evaluated.Biochemical and radiological work-up revealed total migration of the balloon to duodenum and acute pancreatitis due to compression effect.

İntragastrik balonun duodenuma tamamen yer değiştirmesiyle oluşan pankreatit

Obezite tedavisinde intragastrik balon (IGB) uygulaması etkili kilo verme potansiyeline ek olarak kolay uygulabilen cerrahi dışı bir yöntemdir. Bununla birlikte son yıllarda giderek artan uygulama sıklığı ile beraber hayati tehtit eden komplikasyonlar literatürde bildirilmiştir.Ciddi komplikasyonlardan gastrik perforasyon ve bağırsak tıkanıklığına ek olarak yakın zamanda kabul görmüş olan pankretatitlerde literatürde yerini almaya başlamıştır. Şu ana kadar IGB uygulamasına bağlı gelişen on üç pankretatit olgusu bildirilmiştir. Bu çalışmada 5 ay önce intragastrik balon uyguladığımız morbit obez hasta, akut gelişen karın ağrısı ve kusma şikayetleri ile değerlendirildi. Biyokimyasal ve görüntüleme yöntemlerinde balonun duodenuma tamamen migre olması ve buna bağlı bası etkisiyle gelişen akut pankreatit olgusu sunuldu.
